Introducing the
New Online Unemployment
Compensation Tax System

During the last four years the Bureau of UC Tax Operations has been building a complete replacement of the existing unemployment compensation tax system. The new system is designed with many self-service options and will offer the newest technologies available to empower our staff, employers and their representatives.  Employers will be able to easily manage their tax accounts and quickly resolve many problems that may arise. The new unemployment compensation tax system will be called the Employer Resource Information Center (ERIC).

While we are still planning to offer employers and their representatives the option of filing their tax returns by paper, the ERIC system will also offer secure, easy-to-use, online filing options that have even greater accuracy and faster processing capabilities. These online options will include the ability to immediately file and pay unemployment compensation taxes and the ability to FTP (upload) tax return data directly into the system.

We sincerely hope that employers and their representatives will choose to take advantage of these new cost-saving online options when they become available. However, should employers and their representatives choose to continue filing by paper, there will be significant design changes to most of the unemployment compensation tax forms in use today. Some of those changes include block constricting all data entry fields, adding barcodes, and in some cases adding additional questions so that the form(s) can be processed faster.

Please continue to watch this site for further developments on the new ERIC system.
