Unemployment Compensation Benefits Fraud

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services uses electronic cross matches, including employer wage data and new hire reports, to detect individuals who may be ineligible for unemployment compensation benefits. The Benefit Payment Control section aggressively pursues those who attempt to defraud the unemployment compensation system, and criminal charges are filed against the most egregious cases.

Tips and lead from concerned citizens who suspect individuals of fraudulently collecting unemployment benefits are also useful to ensure proper benefit payment.
